It's all about the MOMS...

a support group for mothers of color

Mocha Moms, Inc: The Humble Beginnings

Mocha Moms, Inc. began with the publishing of a newsletter called Mocha Moms in the hopes of connecting with other at-home mothers of color across the country.

The newsletter was intended to encourage these mothers to feel good about their choice as well as to provide information to help them be the best and most important influence in their children’s lives.

The first Mocha News was distributed to over 100 moms across the country in the spring of 1997. From this newsletter the original moms decided to form a support group called Mocha Moms, Inc.

The first support group meeting was held in October of that year, in Cheverly, MD. There are now over 100 chapters throughout the United States and the organization is continually growing and evolving to meet the needs of our moms, their families, and the communities they live in.

JoCo Mochas Humble Beginnings:

The Johnson County Kansas Chapter of Mocha Moms began as a weekly playdate between three newly-transplanted stay-at-home moms the spring of 2003 in Overland Park, KS

Today, JoCo Mochas is a growing group of wonderful women composed of homegrown and relocated moms who represent the entire Kansas City metropolitan area.

While JoCo Mochas began with at home moms, we certainly welcome working moms too. We have a diverse group of women; full timeat-home moms, moms that work part or full time, and moms with home-based businesses.

Our focus remains the same for all of our moms. We want to provide a place for moms to connect with other moms, share valuable information among ourselves and the community, and have a great time in the process.

The mission is simple:
support, community, and fun.

JOCO MochasMission:

To help enrich, recharge and uplift the spirit of our moms, so that they may carry that healthy happy spirit on to share with their families. A healthy, happy spirit-filled mom will generate a loving marriage, happy children and build stronger friendships.
